But it’s still nice and I’m glad I own it. So much of this is available on the net these days and more detailed instruction as well.

Review: Forge World Model Masterclass The Horus Heresy Volume One – Tale of Painters

Pretty much covered the reason why I did not get this book. Most come from that kind of background of military modelling, so the weathering and painting of armoured vehicles is what they really are good at. And will be used on the Warlord too. Pre-ordered as I love the last two and after flicking through this one felt a little sad that it hadn’t maintained the same level of awesome. Mine is still shrink wrapped ready to look at at home.

Forge World Masterclass

Since purchase which was nearly a year ago I have not picked this book up. The thing is I really like the book. Even the weathering is a let down as for some reason they forget how to use oils and spirits.

However I tested the Salamander paint scheme they give you; and it comes out nothing like mastercass pictures: A tutorial for great looking FW models is foorgeworld, but when there are only 3 of them and all vehiclesits not realy interesting for me anymore. So I’m not sure I will be buying it. However the other 2 FW Model Masterclass books I still read and find useful for a multitude of techniques. It’s marked volume one so I’ll be a bit more careful before pouncing on volume two when forgwworld comes out Just felt let down with this one after anticipating so much after already owning the older books.

I have other How-To books that I refer to on a regular basis. Thanks for the review. That’s barely a magazine! You can buy the older books and get better versions of the tutorials that are in this one. I’m revisiting this review as I’m considering painting some Imperial Fists and thanks to your screenshot, even THAT seems useless, other than the scheme reference pics – they didn’t even say which yellow they used. Many of the artists have their WIP threads too so you can follow their process.

Forge World customer service, models and other work has masterxlass been amazing. I recommend both highly. It sounds like they have scrimped on the content tbh and blurry pics is pretty much unforgivable at this level. I have put this one on my birthday list to leave where the wife will see it but am forgeworldd scratching it off the list.

I’m a little lukewarm about the HH paint jobs coming out of Forgeworld. Anon, don’t bother with the book. I got the book, and I admit its really mastdrclass.

Thursday, January 21, Review: What the HH painters excel at are tanks. That’s one awesome masterclass – “Paint it good! Just got Angel Giraffes Masterclass vol 1 and it’s really good for the step by step.

I currently prefer those ones over the Vallejo forgeworrld because they’re not so watery. I have to admit that I’m only curious how they did the metallic look on the knight. The only difference is that they use forge world paints to pre-shade. The first two were awesome, but this sounds disappointing: Think I’ve dodged a bullet now as if I’d bought this for a tutorial on Horus and found out the tip mastrrclass “paint it good” I think I’d have been very angry.

I’m just being a bit of negative Nancy as it does not compare to the previous two books. You know i totally forgot about that one. I have seen that video. I have a couple of the Masterclass books, but find that they are OK for one read through – then just placed on the bookshelf. They even push that stupid mix mastterclass 4 citadel paints for the Sons of Horus and then apologies for it buy saying you can buy their own brand greens to create the scheme At this price it’d be much better to spend the money on The Weathering Magazine or the other FW books.

I feel bad saying that, but it’s true. Oh yea and they even tell you to use boltgun metal. The masterflass it does have are great, the photos stunning, but it’s just missing a whole lot of the instruction from the first two. Nothing but how to so great value IMHO.

Using Tamiya, Klear, airbrushes, and all kinds of other stuff that was not a GW product push was enlightening. Thanks for the review – I got Horus as a christmas present from my wife and was planning to buy this book as usually the tutorials on how to paint their stuff are excellent. Having read the comments, I’m glad that I’m forgewofld the only one feeling this way as I felt a little uneasy writing negatives about the book. Did you try the new Citadel Air ones? Exactly how I felt too.
