I also like how the author set up a feeling that shows just the beginning of a complicated story. They are always encouraging him to let others win and try to blend in more. The most irritating part are the sentence fragments and since I’m not such a good reader in the first place, this flaw is sort of annoying. It was so good i read it in two days. The idea of a young man being chosen for something great without him knowing it has been used many times in young adult books, but the idea of Jack having to save the world from humans destroying it through different types of pollution is a new twist. Jack- adventurous, athletic, dynamic character. I only picked up this book because I’ve read and enjoyed so many of David Klass’s realistic fiction.

What makes that technology good? If you are concerned that firestork earth is being sucked dry by the human parasites that are overrunning it, then you will probably love this book and the rest of the trilogy, I imagine. This book has a strong ecological undercurrent focusing on the damage unthinking people are doing to the planet.
