I highly recommend it. John Rain 9 books. This article has multiple issues. Personal experience gives his page-turners a sense of reality that never ceases to mesmerize me.

I think I will continue to read this series to the end a I like this series.

How to read Craig Johnson series? Still it’s a good book, but be aware, this novel is very much a sequel and anyone trying to read it without first reading A clean kill in Tokyo, is going to find much of the story confusing. As I read a particularly affecting scene as Rain recounts his first kill while a sniper in Vietnam, I realized that many of the aforementioned hitmen protagonists learned their trade in Vietnam and realized once out they had no uard skills except killing, and that they had developed a particularly emotion-less view of life and death.

I’ve now read 1 through 4. This is frustrating for th 2 of the Rain series- I am definitely on the fence on this one.

But then, the book is a chimera, and creates a duality from contrast of Japanese culture with the protagonist, a paranoid can you really be paranoid if everyone is really after you? On April 11, Once again Rain is working with, or at least parallel to, Tatsu, a wily veteran of Japan’s FBI equivalent, who aims to cleanse the Japanese government of its systemic corruption.

I like this character and this is the only set of books I have read about Japan. However, John Rain was raib Vietnam vet, and this book mentions his interactions with his father as a child inall indicating that he was born in about Mar 10, Neil Plakcy rated it it was amazing.

A Lonely Resurrection

I read all the Rain books under their original titles and didn’t realize I was re-reading for a while. Eisler’s bestselling thrillers have won the Barry Award and the Gumshoe Award for Best Thriller of the Year, have been included in numerous ” Barry Eisler spent three years in a covert position with the CIA’s Directorate of Operations, then worked as a technology lawyer and startup executive in Silicon Valley and Japan, earning his black belt at the Kodokan International Judo Center along the way.


The story is set in Japan and has the added benefit of discussing a lot of Japanese brry. But then, the book is a chimera, and creates a duality from contrast of Japanese culture Listened to this audiobook, read by Dick Hill who does a terrific job with pronouncing Japanese. While one could read this as a standalone, I would recommend reading the first in the series, Rain Fallfor a better grounding in the back story of some of the characters. Plus, sleeping around with girls in their 20’s and 30’s garry they just love him?
